Family/Youth Activity Coordinator

CSO is looking for a Family and Youth Activity Coordinator for its Family Resource Center (FRC) in Amherst. This is a family centered program that serves families with children 0-18 years old.  We offer multi-cultural parenting programs, support groups, early childhood services, information and referral resources and education for families.  We also provide access to information and assistance related to health care, safety, employment training, education, peer support and a place for families to relax and have fun with each other.  Our goal is to support families to strengthen their bonds, connect to others, and engage in their community. Our core values include a trauma informed approach as well as respect, trust, safety, wellness, caring, connectivity, and education. This position will provide leadership in development and implementation of FRC activities and events and coordinate community service activities. Services will be provided on-site or on an outreach basis.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Provide primary leadership in development of overall FRC activity calendar or events.
  • Provide outreach to community and families/youth regarding events.
  • Meet with family and youth focus groups to get input into desired FRC activities and supports.
  • Coordinate community service opportunities and community field trips for FRC families and youth.
  • Facilitate and/or assist in facilitating FRC groups as needed.
  • Coordinate overall FRC activity schedule/calendar. 
  • Assist with childcare as needed to support Parent Support Groups.

Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in a behavioral health discipline or related field, or equivalent combination of high school diploma or Associate's degree and applicable experience. Minimum one year demonstrated experience working with children, adolescents and families, including experience navigating children's systems and supports within the community. Good listening skills; ability to establish trusting relationships through compassion, empathy and insight, and ability to foster self-sufficiency in families using problem-solving and practical skills; familiarity with support groups or parent education groups. Must be able to work flexible schedule which may include evening and weekend work, as required by client needs. Valid driver's license and reliable transportation required.
