Kitchen Support Staff, Springfield

CSO is looking for Kitchen Support Staff for Friends of the Homeless in Springfield.

Kitchen Support Staff are responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of the kitchen.  They wash dishes, may assist Kitchen Manager or Assistant prepare/plate guest meals, assist other food service staff as necessary and perform a schedule of organizational and cleaning duties.

Responsibilities

  • Wash breakfast, lunch and/or dinner dishes, other dishes throughout the shift.
  • Mop, accomplish a schedule of tasks that promote kitchen cleanliness and organization and assist other food service staff as needed.
  • Kitchen support may also be responsible for assisting the Kitchen Manager or Assistant in the preparation of meals (breakfast, lunch or dinner) for approximately 150 guests per meal served daily from the kitchen.
  • May assist volunteer food groups with food preparation and service.

Qualifications

High School diploma or GED.  Experience in food service program a plus. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one-or-two step instructions.  Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables.  Ability to maintain boundaries and consistently carry out shelter procedures while treating guests with respect.  Ability to be self-directed, organized and set priorities when working independently in the kitchen. ServSafe certificate required or must be obtained within 90 days of hire.
