Nurse-Part-time, DMH Therapeutic Day Program (Athol)

Therapeutic Day Services (Afterschool programming) provides a range of psycho-educational and recreational group activities that occur on site and community locations.  This program supports youth from  6-18 y.o. with severe emotional disturbance referred from the Department of Mental Health.  Group activities include therapeutic support and are structured to strengthen youth resiliency and development of skills including emotion regulation, mindfulness, social engagement, interpersonal skills and more.

Part-time, 20/wk.  The Nurse of the DMH Therapeutic Day Program will be responsible for the care of clients utilizing the Therapeutic Day program, providing health and wellness education as well as performing specific tasks necessary to the operation of the program.  There will be travel required.  Responsibilities include (but not limited to) the following:
 

  • Coordinate medication and health care prior to program enrollment when possible, by taking information from DMH/hospital/community healthcare providers.
  • Review medications upon enrollment, confirm prescriptions and dosages, administer, document and monitor medications of clients.
  • Provide health and wellness education for youth and families as part of treatment team.
  • Contact clients' primary care physicians when needed, and make referrals to PCP's when necessary.

Qualifications: LPN with one year of experience required; RN with one year of experience working with a psychiatric population preferred, including experience with youth.  Must be well-organized, resourceful, and able to function as a productive member of a treatment team.  Valid Massachusetts' licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse or a Registered Nurse required.  Computer proficiency required including ability to work with email, electronic health record and word processing software.  Must possess valid driver's license and reliable
