CBHC ESP Shift Supervisor, Gardner

CSO is looking for a CBHC ESP Shift Supervisor to work in our CBHC Emergency Services Program in Gardner.

Community Behavioral Health Centers (CBHCs) are responsible for providing a full range of client-centered and family-centered services and interventions for mental health, substance use disorders, and co-occurring disorders. CBHCs serve as an entry point for timely, flexible, person-centered, high-quality mental health and addiction treatment on an urgent and ongoing basis.

Our Emergency Service Programs (ESPs) offer clients behavioral health assessments, intervention and stabilization (for youth, families and adults,) 24-hour availability, and are a preferred alternative to hospital emergency departments. We offer these services to all individuals regardless of insurance or ability to pay. We provide daily assessment and brief counseling, case management, nursing support and peer support. We have recovery and wellness focused groups, psychiatric consultation when needed and also provide discharge planning. 

As a CBHC ESP Shift Supervisor you will provide leadership and coordination functions for the counseling staff in collaboration with the management team. You will also fulfill regular counselor duties including care and treatment of clients utilizing program.

Responsibilities

  • Provide mentorship for new employees in orientation, serving as a role model for other program staff.
  • Champion education and training programs for Counselor Staff.
  • Coordinate food purchasing and menu planning including assistance with shopping lists, purchase and delivery, and organization/storage of food supplies under supervision of director; coordinate with nursing staff and Director regarding general and specific nutritional needs of the residents. 
  • Review and filing of observation check sheets, building check sheets and MABHA entries daily. Report discrepancies to manager.
  • Participate in the CSO Trauma Informed Care initiative including participation on the Regional Work Group. 
  • Establish a 1:1 therapeutic relationship with each program client, providing support and safety for clients utilizing the program.
  • Assist clients with activities of daily living, including self-care, cooking, recreation, and medication responsibilities according to individual treatment plans.
  • Prepare daily evening meal for clients and staff when working the evening shift. Coordinate shift duties with other counselor working shift during meal preparation.
  • Function as an active member of the Respite Treatment Team, on a day-to day basis, in the therapeutic setting including attending staff meetings; rotating shifts, as needed; charting and reporting on daily records; maintaining knowledge of patient's treatment plan.
  • Monitor respite clients, including hourly bed checks and documentation, and provide closer observation as needed.
  • Share observations, interactions, and knowledge to develop 24-hour care plans.
  • Attend change of shift meetings and provide shift report on client activities and mental status.
  • Participate in ongoing in-service training for the purpose of developing, maintaining, and sharing counselor skills.
  • Attend regular supervision meetings with the Program Manager or his/her designee.
  • Make appropriate clinical referrals as part of case management duties.  Communicate regularly with family members, significant others, and involved providers in an effort to coordinate care.
  • Follow CCS/Respite procedures regarding medication administration and documentation.

Qualifications

Clinical Bachelor's Degree with two years' experience working with mentally ill individuals or two years of supervised internship or field placement experience at a human service agency preferred.  High school diploma with a minimum of five years' experience may be substituted. Must have excellent oral and written communication skills, and computer proficiency including ability to work with email and word processing software.  Must be well organized, able to work independently, follow through with projects, and able to function as a productive member of a treatment team.  Must possess valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
