CSO is looking for a Relief Nurse for our shelter, Friends of the Homeless (FOH) in Springfield.
This
position will provide monitoring and treatment for shelter guests and tenants.
As a Relief FOH Nurse:
You Will:
- Complete
health assessments of guests and tenants as appropriate
- Monitor
guests' and tenants' physical status as needed, including blood pressure,
pulse, temperature, and blood sugar for signs of medication side effects. Report abnormal findings to supervisor
- Triage
patients in need of urgent/emergent services (PCP visit, Urgent Care, Emergency
Department)
- Implement
CPR when indicated
- Provide
training to nurses and relief nurses as necessary
- Implement
appropriate isolation protocols as indicated; perform guest/tenant medical
screening and other procedures including immunizations, testing, isolation and
quarantine when appropriate and directed
- Provide
health education for guests and tenants as part of treatment team when
appropriate
- Contact
guest/tenant PCP when appropriate, and make referrals to PCP's when necessary.
- Monitor
guests and tenants when needed, including documentation, and provide closer
observation as needed
- Provide
supportive counseling and safety for guests and tenants; assist with activities
of daily living, including self-care, recreation, and medication
responsibilities, including assistance with intramuscular (IM) medication
administration
- Function
as an active member of the FOH Nursing Team, including attending staff
meetings, arriving as needed for rotating shifts, charting and reporting on
daily records, and maintaining knowledge of treatment plans
- Share
observations, interactions, and knowledge to develop 24-hour care plans when
needed
- Communicate
regularly with family members, significant others, and involved providers and
agencies in an effort to coordinate care. Transport clients approved by
supervisor
Your Background:
- Must be
Licensed in MA as a Registered Nurse
- Experience
treating individuals with serious mental illness and substance use disorders
(preferred)
- Computer
proficiency
- Valid
Driver's License and reliable transportation
