Billing Specialist, Northampton
CSO is looking for a Self-Pay and Credentialing Specialist to join our billing team.
The Self Pay and Credentialing Specialist is responsible for tasks relating to billing through follow-up and collection, clerical and back up administration duties and the gathering, entering and verifying of pertinent information.
Starting Salary: $40,000-$46,000/year
As a Self-Pay and Credentialing Specialist:
You Will:
- Ensure pursuit of collections of aged receivables following agency collections policies and procedures
- Contact patients or guarantors to collect outstanding medical bills for deductibles, co-pays, and other patient-responsible amounts
- Establish payment plans or secure full payment through various communication methods like phone calls, emails, or letters
- Post and distribute payments as received from clients
- Reconcile self-pay deposits as requested
- Handle all client inquiries as it pertains to billing
- Assist with collections reconciliation and statements to ensure money received represents what patients should pay or should have paid
- Generate statements to be mailed on a monthly basis
- Gather all self-pay and 3rd party checks for a weekly bank deposit
- Work aged balance report weekly and follow up on balances not being paid through coordination with the Billing Analyst and Reports Manage
- Verify patient insurance benefits and eligibility for services to determine patient out-of-pocket costs
- Coordinate with Human Resources department to gather, properly house and disseminate applicable employee credentialing information
- Process credentialing termination paperwork for terminated staff
- Enter and maintain pertinent client/employee information in database as it pertains to credentialing
Your Background:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Computer proficiency with experience in database programs, spreadsheets, email, electronic health records and word processing
- Previous medical billing experience
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
