Shelter Shift Supervisor, Greenfield

CSO is looking for a Shelter Shift Supervisor for our new shelter in Greenfield, MA. This shelter will support adults experiencing homelessness in Franklin County.

The Shelter Shift Supervisor will oversee, facilitate and coordinate the activities of staff during the hours of shelter operation.  The Shelter Shift Supervisor works with management and staff to provide a safe, secure, and nurturing environment for Shelter's guests. 

Responsibilities


  • Review shelter files, notes, records, reports, logs, medication records and other documentation for accuracy, completeness and use of proper procedures as defined by the agency's policy.
  • Prepare and maintain various reports such as; progress reports, update records; collect, prepare and deliver required reports, records and documentation to appropriate administrative department in a timely manner.
  • Support  Interviews, hiring and training for employees as needed and in collaboration with supervisor; supervise assigned staff, explaining and ensuring compliance with program's shelter policies, procedures and regulations. 
  • Assess staffing needs and plan, develop and coordinate appropriate training.
  • Support the schedule development and staff work assignments. Working with supervisor, plan and evaluate employee's performance.
  • Provide guidance for all other routine employee related matters within the Shelter, confer with manager on non-routine personnel or other related matters affecting shelter employees.
  • Attend various meetings, training programs and communicate with supervisor and other managers about the activities and needs of the Shelter.
  • Adhere to the philosophy of "customer satisfaction" and consistently follow the same by providing reliable, responsive, consistent, trauma-informed and high-quality service in a timely manner to staff and external customers.
  • Support and maintain a high-performance environment characterized by positive leadership and a strong team orientation as an added value member of the Agency Management team; support CEO-approved goals and philosophies, sharing a fundamental philosophy that enhances the agency's global reputation within the community.
  • Communicate regularly with staff on progress toward defined goals of Agency Management team; complete and conduct performance evaluations in a timely fashion, providing specific feedback and work with HR to initiate corrective action when defined goals and/or required results are not met.

Qualifications

Associate's Degree or equivalent from two-year college; or one to two years related experience with homeless or at-risk population is preferred.  Demonstrated knowledge of homeless issues. Manage time and meet deadlines related to the daily operating schedule of shelter activities.  Communicate clearly and concisely both verbally and in writing. Knowledge of de-escalation (conflict resolution) methods, communication and maintaining appropriate boundaries.  Knowledge of community and social agencies for the homeless. Effective interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills. Strong administrative and organizational skills. Capacity to effectively supervise a variety of staff and carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the agency's policies and applicable laws. CPR and First Aid certification. Must be able to work flexible schedule which may include evening and weekend work, as required by program needs. Valid driver's license and reliable transportation required.
