On-Call Psychiatrist

CSO is looking for a Psychiatrist to provide on-call services by phone for our Emergency Services programs.

The On-Call Psychiatrist will provide diagnostic and evaluation supervision services as well as ongoing medication monitoring and treatment for the consumers of the Crisis Services Program (including Respite.) They will work closely with program staff to coordinate care and provide consultation.

Responsibilities

  • Provide diagnostic and evaluation support for consumers.
  • Provide medical and psychiatric consultations to staff.
  • Collaborate with and provide supervision for program staff holding an MSN degree, in order to provide comprehensive, flexible medication services to consumers.
  • Provide psychiatric coverage in an on-call capacity, as scheduled within one hour of receiving contact call.
  • Ability to respond telephonically in 15 minutes to provide support to Crisis and Respite clinicians. 
  • Provide diagnostic and evaluation support for consumers.
  • Calls are typically brief regarding possible section 12's or consults regarding emergency department patients.
  • Coverage is after regular hours and weekends.
  • Typical shift is one week per month or every other month. 
  • For applicants who need it, we can train and provide clinical support during orientation period. 

Qualifications

Board certification in psychiatry, valid Massachusetts license to practice medicine, and experience working with long-term, seriously mentally ill individuals required.  Computer proficiency required including ability to work with email, electronic health record and word processing software.
