Housing Navigator, FOH, Springfield

CSO is seeking a full-time Housing Navigator at Friends of the Homeless (FOH) in Springfield to join our Coordinated Entry team that serves individuals experiencing homelessness that access shelter or other access points in the community, and works to connect them to housing. This position is mobile and able to work on and off-site to meet with homeless individuals in the community.


  • Engage and work with homeless individuals within the coordinated entry system to complete assessments and referrals, obtain needed housing documents, assist with housing applications and connect individuals to supportive services when needed.
  • Manage caseload, address issues and keep up-to-date client records.
  • Complete assessments and other paperwork as part of a housing plan, and refer to other supportive services if needed.
  • Participate in a variety of meetings including staff meetings, Case Conference meetings, and provide regular feedback to supervisor.
  • Collaborate with a network of community partners including outreach workers, shelter case managers, housing and other service providers, and understand all roles and responsibilities within the coordinated entry system.

Hiring Requirements and Preferences

Candidate shall have relevant direct care experience for the position. Bachelor's or Associate's degree preferred with experience. Both lived experience and relevant direct care experience are valued.  

Candidate shall have the ability to work with a diverse population and exercise good judgement. Familiarity with the cultural and service needs of the area preferred. Bilingual skills (English-Spanish) preferred. 

Candidate shall have the ability to work independently and as part of a team, and shall be able to communicate clearly, effectively and timely, and be able to prioritize, organize and operate in a flexible manner. Must have computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft office programs, and have reliable personal transportation, a valid MA driver's license, auto insurance and an acceptable driving record.
