Our All Stars Therapeutic Day and After-school Programs provides a range of psych-educational and recreational groups for youth ages 6 - 18 years old. As a support worker, you will work with 6 - 8 children in direct care activities and communicate with care-givers and other behavioral health providers. Our goal is to strengthen child resiliency and aid in the development of skills in emotion regulation, social skills, social engagement and more. Being a support worker involves leading activities with children and sometimes their families, and participating in the planning of these groups and activities. Associate's degree in a behavioral health discipline or related field. Demonstrated experience working with children, adolescents and families, including experience navigating children's systems and supports within the community. Knowledge of and training in child development and children's mental health experience. Good listening skills; ability to establish trusting relationships through compassion, empathy and insight, and ability to foster self-sufficiency in families using problem-solving and practical skills; familiarity with support groups or parent education groups. Experience as parent/caregiver of a youth with special needs, and preferably a youth with mental health needs is helpful, with a willingness to share this experience/journey with child serving systems. Excellent oral and written communication skills and computer proficiency required including ability to work with email, electronic health record and word processing software. Must be able to work flexible schedule which may include evening and weekend work, as required by client needs. Valid driver's license and reliable transportation required.
